Temperatures are steadily rising outside and the comfort of an air conditioned room is becoming tough to beat. And what better to do when you’re inside escaping the heat than to answer some poll questions on StressedOutNurses.com? Okay, eating ice cream may be a bit more fun (and delicious!), but many of you have shared your opinions on our site during the past several weeks. Let’s take a peek at how you’ve responded to some summer poll questions.
-
The federal tax rebates left the possibilities for summer vacations and fun wide open. However, like much of the country, you guys stashed away the extra cash from the government. Forty percent of respondents to this question said they planned to spend the money on bills and their gas tank and 33% said they’d be saving it. Only 27% answered with a resounding “Spending it!”
-
Staying with the theme of rising costs, we asked you how the high gas prices were affecting your lives. The majority of you (47%) said “It’s really making things hard.” A third of you said “It’s not so bad” and 20% of you have just had enough, choosing “I’ll be riding a bike from now on.”
-
How do visitors to our site like to spend their summer weekends? Outside! In this poll, 70% of respondents were equally split between “Working on my tan at the beach” and “Enjoying the great outdoors (hiking, camping, etc.).” And many of you liked combining inside activities with nice weather, as 18% of respondents said they’d prefer to be outside reading a book. Some of you, though, prefer the great indoors. Twelve percent responded that, of the choices, they’d like to be inside “watching a good flick in an air-conditioned cinema.”
-
One recent outdoor activity, however, kept the majority of your interests: fireworks on the fourth. Fifty-five percent of you said you were planning to watch them, while 27% said they still weren’t sure. (We hope you got a chance to!) Eighteen percent of you weren’t fond of bright lights in the sky and said no to the annual illuminations.
-
Turning to nursing topics, we asked about your careers. Not surprisingly, two-thirds of you (67%) said you planned on being a nurse for your entire life. Less than a quarter of you (23%) said no, while 10% said “Honestly, I’m not sure.”
-
The vote was pretty much split when we asked if you belonged to a professional nursing organization. Just more than half (56%) said yes, while 44% said you weren’t a member.
-
Lastly, and most recently, we asked you if you passed the NCLEX exam on the first try. For many of you, summer will be getting underway with some serious studying as you prepare to take the test that stamps some new initials after your name. So far, 62% of you have said you passed this exam the first time you took it, while 38% have said “I haven’t taken it yet, but I hope I do.”
As always, we’ll be rolling out new poll questions every week to keep our hand on the pulse of nursing—and provide some fun distractions. Do you have any ideas for a poll? Is there a question you need answered for some research you are doing? Something you are just curious about? Give us a shout at mbriddon@hcpro.com and we’ll toss your question up on the site!

It’s unusual for me to find something on the cyberspace that’s as entertaining and intriguing as what you have got here. Your page is sweet, your graphics are outstanding, and what’s more, you use reference that are relevant to what you’re talking about. You are certainly one in a million, good job!

I have been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will be much more useful than ever before.

GameFly has thousands of other video games, and they even carry titles for older platforms like the Xbox and GameCube. If you enjoy nothing more than first-person shooters, RPGs, and musical games like Guitar Hero, be sure to check out their site and give them a try.

As a substitute to traditional cigarettes, I tried them, and did quit smoking tobacco within a week. I have not resumed since because I do not feel like it anymore and do now find the smell offensive.

Reverse phone lookup although it is a fairly new service, is typically a free service for customers to use online.
