Both Brigham Young University (BYU) and Utah Valley State College (USVC) are making a few changes to help give enrollment a boost.

Starting this fall at BYU, which is located in Provo, UT, students will be able to earn nursing degrees in four years, chopping six months off the current program. Also, instead of requiring 12 prerequisites to get into the program, the school will require only four.

At UVSC, which is located in Orem, UT, administrators are hoping to start a master’s program to increase the number of nurse educators in the state.

Many Utah nursing students remain in the state after graduation, a trend both schools would like to see continue with these changes.
