There’s nothing quite as relaxing after a hard week as a night at home in front of a favorite movie. Better yet, why not make it a healthcare movie? There are so many good ones out there, but we did our best to narrow it down to 10 must see-flicks if you are in the healthcare world. So, grab some friends, grab that special someone, or just grab a blanket, some popcorn, and a soda. Okay, Shh! We don’t want to miss the previews. Enjoy!

  1. Vital Signs (1990): A film about love and the third year of medical school wins points with performances by Diane Lane and that guy from “L.A. Law.”
  2. The Cider House Rules (1999): It involves a physician, is based on a John Irving book, and who doesn’t love a good tearjerker? It’s a winner.
  3. Flatliners (1990): Medical students flirting with near-death experiences. Perhaps this is where Kiefer Sutherland got some inspiration for “24.”
  4. Nurse Betty (2000): Renee Zellweger, Chris Rock, Morgan Freeman, and soap operas. How can you go wrong?
  5. Pearl Harbor (2001): Along with the fantastic flying antics of Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett, the nurses take center stage in a crucial scene right after the attacks. Kate Beckinsale, despite being confused about love, comes across as a competent, capable nurse.
  6. Gross Anatomy (1989): This story about first-year medical students gets a huge boost from the music, which includes “She Drives Me Crazy” by the Fine Young Cannibals.
  7. MASH (1970): Humor takes center stage in this classic film that focuses on a hospital and the Korean War.
  8. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975): Everyone remembers the Chief and Jack Nicholson’s fantastic performance, but Nurse Mildred Ratched really steals the show.
  9. Patch Adams (1998): Robin Williams and his wacky combination of medicine and humor make for a fun, heartwarming flick.
  10. Meet the Parents (2000): The back-and-forth between male nurse Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) and Jack Byrnes (Robert Deniro) puts this one at the top of our list. If you haven’t seen it, get to the video store, grab a bowl of popcorn, and get ready to laugh.

Is there something wrong with our list? Did we forget one that should be up there?
