We all have stress on a daily basis. That’s a given. Some of us are busy trying to balance school and work, while others are trying to figure out how to get the 6-year-old to soccer practice and the 9-year-old to ballet rehearsal in a five-minute span. Plus, there’s grocery shopping, paying bills, the holidays, trying to figure out this crazy nursing profession, and that movie you just returned. You did return it, right?

With all the stress and anxiousness of everyday life, sometimes you just need to get away. Sure, a back rub from a loved one is nice and a few hours at a day spa can really melt the worries away. But how about a real break, a vacation where you get away from everything? We took a peak at spafinder.com and came up with our 10 favorite big time, over-the-top getaways. Pick out your favorite and toss it on your wish list for someday. Or, you could take the easier route . . .

Mom, Dad . . . here’s what I really want for the holidays:

  1. New Life Hiking Spa in Killington, VT: It may be a tad pricy at $2,219, but you get a spacious room and a private bath for 11 nights, gourmet meals, and daily guided hikes in the picturesque woods of the Green Mountain State. It runs May 18-29, and there’s nothing quite like spring in New England.
  2. Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City, N.J.: This one-night getaway starts at $379 a night and includes nearly an hour of a Swedish massage, a Microinfusion body treatment, or a Botanical Republic facial for two. Plus, what could be more stress relieving than heading to the casino and winning at the blackjack tables for a couple of hours?
  3. Hershey Resorts in Hershey, PA: This spa in the chocolate capital of the world offers a refreshing facial, a 50-minute massage (you can get a cocoa one), and a lunch in the Spa Oasis. It goes for around $170. Did we mention there’s chocolate involved?
  4. The OC Spa & Wellness Center in Huntington Beach, CA: At around $600 per night, this little piece of luxury comes with spa treatments, salon treatments, lunch, and a gift bag. Plus, it’s the OC. If you’re a celebrity junky, this could be your chance to rub elbows with Hollywood’s finest.
  5. The Springs Resort in Pagosa Springs, CO: Looking for the ultimate couples’ getaway? This one-night stay includes champagne, a couples’ massage, $50 toward a romantic dinner, and other gifts. The best part of the $320 getaway? You get 24-hour access to 18 hot mineral pools. Relaxation never sounded so good.
  6. Safety Harbor Resort & Spa in Safety Harbor, FL: The least expensive of the excursions, this one includes two nights, unlimited use of spa facilities, and an herbal wrap or hydro bath for two for under $200. As an added bonus, you also get unlimited daytime tennis. Serve it up!
  7. The Heartland Spa in Gilman, IL: Manicures and healthy meals and snacks can help get your 2007 off to a good start. The cost of the three-night trip is $1,260 for two and also includes unlimited use of exercise and spa facilities.
  8. Mandarin Oriental in New York, NY: With breathtaking views of New York City, these luxury accommodations for two starting at $825 will make you feel like you are in another world. You also get complimentary use of the Heat Experiences in the spa in this “Holiday on the Park” package.
  9. Zermatt Resort & Spa in Midway, UT: This $559 two-night stay in luxury–with a European inspiration–includes a body composition analysis and a training session. And really, who couldn’t start off the year with a Caviar and Pearls facial and a Kauter sage body wrap?
  10. The Greenhouse in Arlington, TX: The priciest of our favorite relaxing adventures, this eight-day, seven-night trip goes for around $4,000. But with everything from daily fitness classes to European facials to hair conditioning treatments, it’s at the top of the relaxation chain.
